Wasted calories are something I take very seriously, as should you if you are trying to tone up for summer. You know what they say, summer bodies are made in the winter- unless you live in LA. The winter wardrobe here is practically your summer dress with a scarf and Uggs. In that case, there is no time to slack off all year round. Anyways, back to the point- what are wasted calories? They are basically calories you intake for no reason. AKA they add no distinctive flavor to the thing you are eating.
Let me break it down for you-
If you bought a Turkey Pesto Sandwich with avocado, mayo, and jack cheese, you should be able to taste everything that was just listed. Oh wait, you don't taste the cheese because the pesto, mayo and avocado is overpowering it? Boom- wasted calories. Yeah, there is a SLIGHT difference in taste, but your taste buds aren't going to trip balls. On the other hand, a grilled cheese without cheese is just bread... which is then practically considered wasted calories on its own. So you might as well just forget the whole thing.
The point is that there are some things you can let go and others that are apart of treat yo-self Fridays. And obviously the goal of this is to save as many wasted calories as you can so you can eat that cookie (or margarita) guilt free. Duh!
